TMO Vibrant - Stock Froyo 2.2 to TeamWhiskey...
Ok so I had already bricked on Vibrant so this time I was a lot more cautious. I am currently running Bionix-v on my TMO Vibrant having flashed from the stock Froyo 2.2 build. I ran into a few snags along the way so I wanted to put everything together that I went through since I’m sure other people are having similar problems.
First off, the root. With Eclair 2.1, rooting was a piece of...
Bad Career Advice: Do Something You Love →
I love the Careerealism blog. It is a great source for career inspiration and provides a fresh insight into the world of career management (if that’s even a subject!).
I'm back!
Now let’s see what else I can do with this thing…

Zenhabits - Guide to Creating a Minimalist Home →
I found this post to be very insightful when it comes to “minimalising” your home. Some great suggestions on how to de-clutter and focus on the necessities. Keep an eye on this journal as I continue my journey to simplify. Our next plan for our studio apartment is to rearrange things to improve the energy flow and feeling of home, and hang some prints of my photography.
Eager for 2010
A new year, a new decade. So many opportunities. I look forward to loving my children, loving my girlfriend, loving my life as it is. I am excited to see what 2010 holds for me not only in my personal life, but in my professional career as well. One of my goals is to expand on my photography with the possibility of going to school for a degree in photography. It all comes down to time.
In my...

I’ve started a photoblog over at http://aristonphotog.tumblr.com. It is a simple collection of only what I consider to be my best and favorite pieces. Comments are welcome, simply click on the small + symbol that appears when you mouse-over and image.

Opera 9.5 - Loving It!
I’ve been the kind of guy to want to bounce around between technologies just to see what the latest and greatest can provide. Having never really settled on a browser I’ve had the opportunity to experiment and discover the benefits of each one I come across. Although I still rely on Internet Explorer (unfortunately) for some of my day-to-day tasks at work (we use SharePoint), for my...

Why oh why
It’s mornings like these that make us wondering why we are who we are, or do the things we do. I’m up early to help cover from my co-worker is off today and tomorrow. Having to juggle two positions and two children is quite the challenge especially where we are now. I have found that trying to maintain a peaceful demeanor becomes more difficult as the workload increases. Granted it...
Alternative income
In this day of high gas prices and other fiscal challenges, my usual vocation is doing an OK job of allowing us to maintain our existing lifestyle, but with two kids, house, fairly long commute, etc. etc. it all becomes more and more difficult to make ends meet. Now granted spending habits take a strong role in our circumstances, but there is also a expectation to provide for our kids an...

Management books
This morning I just finished listening to 12: The Elements of Great Managing and found it to be very fascinating. If you have read Breaking All the Rules, then you are familiar with the authors as this is in essence the sequal to that book. The breakdown is that Gallup did an incredibly in-depth study of job satisfaction. They polled the employees against 12 Elements that were assembled based...

Switching to AT&T
After being on T-Mobile for several years I’ve decided to switch the family to AT&T. I’ve never been all that happy with the phone selection and dropped/missed calls that I’ve gotten with T-Mobile. There’s a really nice dead zone on the way home that always yields dropped calls. I’ve gotten some feedback from AT&T and although I’ve hears their...
Thinking of CABM
In an effort to improve my marketability with regard to business, I stumbled upon the Ceritified Associate Business Manager. With the pending opportunities coming after the first of the year I’m thinking this might be a good way to go to increase my knowledge of business processes and management. More info can be found via the APBM (Association of Professionals in Business Management)...
Trying out GTD in Outlook 2007
So I’ve read through a few different webpages regarding GTD and I decided to try to give it a shot with Oulook 2007 at work. So far it has gone pretty well, although I’ve modified it to fit my needs. For the most part I get everything via email, but for the tasks that are verbal or created on my own, I use two folders that I call Pre-Pipeline and Pipeline. The folders store tasks...
Doing better
The obstruction passed and I’m feeling better. I’m going to schedule an appointment with my doc to check the xrays and see if I’ll need an esophageal dilation. I’m supposed to be on a soft diet, but we all know how that goes when you’re craving something in particular.
Off to Emergency
Had an issue with swallowing this evening which has ended up with me in the Emergency department at Kaiser. I just had a couple of xrays to see if there is a blockage. Had this problem for a while but never this bad. There’s a chance I might be back for dilation of my esophagus. We’ll see.
Baby No Sleeping - An Article from The Imperfect... →
With some of the sleeping challenges my wife and I have had with our boys this caught my attention immediately. Although it’s a lengthy article, it is highly recommended simply based on content. Nell McCarthy does a great job of exploring the details of the challenges parents face with children who don’t sleep through the night.
Blind spots - Seeing more than your eye does →
From the site: “Most people (even many who work on the brain) assume that what you see is pretty much what your eye sees and reports to your brain. In fact, your brain adds very substantially to the report it gets from your eye, so that a lot of what you see is actually “made up” by the brain.”
Speech Recognition in Vista
Today I’ve been testing out speech recognition in windows Vista. It is really interesting when you can simply dictate to your computer instead of having to use the keyboard and mouse. In fact, I’ve dictated this entire paragraph. If you’re ever interested in trying out something new in Windows Vista, then I would highly recommend testing out speech recognition. Granted it’s not perfect but...
Congrats!
To all Redlands School District kids who were honored last night by the Redlands Masonic Lodge #300. You each deserve applause for making it through whatever challenges you have faced. I had a great time getting photographs and I hope to have something to you soon.

Great day at Faire!
Had an awesome day at Faire today. Once again Vicky is showing herself to be simply fantastic when it comes to portraying the Queen. She is coming out and playing a wide range of emotions and executing her role at the highest level. Privy Council went well. A couple of minor items such as projection, planning, and position. Projection in that we needed to speak up a bit more. The sound...
Up early
Eldest son is going with his Nana today to give the wife and I a chance to do the Privy Council bit out at Faire. Of course I had forgotten to print copies so thank God for my mother-in-law who answered at 5:30am and will be able to print out several copies. Should be a lot of fun. If you’re going today, we’ll see you out there!
Faire Prep and Privy Council
Tomorrow is our Privy Council bit at Faire. I am excited and nervous. As one of the privy councilors I have a fairly major role. Should be a lot of fun though!
